The Mackie Onyx16 features 12 Onyx mic preamps that deliver up to 60 dB of gain with ultra-low noise performance. These high-headroom preamps provide crystal-clear signal capture, making the mixer an excellent choice for vocals, instruments, and podcast recording. Its analog section includes a 3-band Perkins “British-style” EQ on each channel, which offers smooth and musical tonal shaping, along with a sweepable midrange ideal for detailed sound sculpting. Each mic input is equipped with a 100 Hz low-cut filter to remove unwanted low-frequency rumble, and 48 V phantom power is available for condenser microphones, enhancing its flexibility for studio and live use alike.

Designed with content creators and engineers in mind, the Onyx16 supports 24-bit/96 kHz multitrack recording via USB, allowing up to 12 channels of individual audio to be captured directly into a DAW. Additionally, it features a built-in stereo SD card recorder for standalone recording of main mixes, ideal for quick setups or live performances. The Studio Command interface includes a vibrant full-color display and a single-knob navigation system, providing access to built-in digital effects such as reverb, delay, and chorus. Four custom effect presets can be saved and recalled on demand. A built-in Bluetooth receiver enables wireless audio streaming directly into any channel, offering practical convenience for playback or live referencing.
