Battery Technology and Runtime Performance

At its core, this external module houses four sealed lead‑acid (SLA) batteries, each rated at 9.4 Ah and 12 V nominal. These batteries are designed for reliable UPS support with predictable discharge characteristics and established service life performance.

When installed with the ABB PowerValue 11RT G2 1 kVA UPS, a single external battery unit can extend backup time significantly beyond the internal UPS battery capacity, enabling minutes to hours of additional run time depending on connected load. For reference, practical performance figures with one battery module show extended backup durations—for example, approximately 21 minutes at full load and 48 minutes at half load. Adding multiple modules in parallel further increases backup time in proportion to battery capacity added.
