Aegis features a beautiful rounded shield-inspired front with the same fully customizable ICON display used on Pandora, and a sporty fresh design all around.

The yellow AEGIS - MATX Performance ICON Micro Chassis from BitFenix is a customizable computer chassis with a rounded, shield-inspired, front and an ICON display. Much focus has been given on cooling performance, considering the rigors required of a high-performance game computer. And so, a large number of fans and radiators are utilized: up to 8-120mm fans or 5-140mm fans, dual 280 radiators or a 360 and 240 combo.

To block as much noise as possible without notably restricting airflow, AEGIS features a closed front panel that extends far from the case body, providing plenty of space for air to stream in through the side vents. Rounded and bent like a shield, it's not only functional but makes AEGIS look bold and imposing.

For "movie time" or an intense gaming session, AEGIS is built to overclock with an upgraded airflow. Where, instantly, fanspeed and resulting noise can be minimized by switching between 3 different modes: High Performance (12V), Normal (7V), and Silent (5V).

The chassis is built to hide the PSU and modular cable plugs and wires for a neat and clean looking build. Or, if the user wants to show off a particularly good looking CPU or sleeved cables, the PSU cover is completely removable.

Hidden behind the smooth closed front panel and invisible when powered off, sits the BitFenix ICON 2.8" Logo Display. It connects directly to your motherboard via an internal USB header and lets you drag and drop any color image onto the display to customize its build. BitFenix has published the entire sourcecode, opening the door for developers and tinkerers to create animated and interactive ICON apps.

The ICON can be loaded with up to eight 120mm fans or five 140mm fans for a very silent or extreme airflow build, and supports up to two slim 360mm radiators, a thick 360mm + 280mm or dual 280mm combo. For a dual AIO or custom loop build, AEGIS packs an intense amount of cool possibilities, stacking up nicely against other even some much larger cases.

AEGIS comes with micro weave dust filters with a solid frame that can be removed and cleaned quickly and easily. The top dust filter can be clipped on and off within a second, and the front and bottom magnetic dust filters cover all intake fan locations including the PSU, giving dust bunnies no chance to settle in this case.

Keep the loop running without a refill for months on end, and give the build that extra protection. To enable fully fledged custom loop builds with a nice tube reservoir, BitFenix bundled a 240mm reservoir bracket that can be attached to either the case, or directly to a 240mm or 360mm radiator. Alternatively, the reservoir bracket can be used to install pump/reservoir combos, such as the EKWB Xres, simplifying loop build notably.

Additionally, with support for up to two 360mm radiators and 5 slots for dual VGA configurations, BitFenix knows that builders don't want to skimp on the pump. That's why AEGIS comes with its very own pump bracket, covered with a thick rubber pad, and featuring plenty of mounting holes. There are several locations on the bottom of the case that make it that much easier to get a custom loop up and running.

AEGIS comes with all the necessary motherboard standoffs, factory installed, making a new build much less of a hassle and saving the builder valuable time. And if the plan is to use an mITX motherboard, not to worry, as none of the additional preinstalled standoffs will stand in the way. In case it's wanted to remove them anyways for that extra clean look, BitFenix bundles a screwdriver adapter to remove them one by one.

Installing any high performance CPU cooler, whether its Air, AIO or a waterblock, requires access to the back of the motherboard. AEGIS comes with support for up to 6.7" (170mm) tall tower coolers and an extra large CPU socket cutout that provides plenty of space to install support brackets behind the CPU socket to securely install even the largest and heaviest CPU coolers on the market.

The longest VGAs on the market barely make it to 11.8" (300mm), and even the tallest VGAs rarely surpass 5.1" (130mm). AEGIS supports no less than 15" (380mm) long and 5.9" (150mm) tall VGAs, leaving plenty of space for front mounted fans, radiators and of course for air to move and stream through the system and cool all components.

Whether it's a multi-monitor setup, a huge 4K monitor, or if one's addicted to 3D benchmark scores, AEGIS dual VGA is ready to meet the performance demands. While most mATX cases come with 4 expansion slots, AEGIS features a fifth slot, to support high-end motherboards, which add a breathing space between both 16x graphics cards, keeping the cards cooler and more stable.

The storage capacity installable is impressive: AEGIS supports up to 40TB of HDD storage and up to 16TB of SSD space. It's good to know that more storage options than most probably needed are available. AEGIS comes with a special 2.5" slot next to the motherboard, perfect for showing off a speedy high-end SSD, if that rocks your boat.

A removable cage with two completely tool-less 2.5" slots provides quick access to a pair of SSDs or 2.5" HDDs. Thanks to its location at the top front of the case it can remain in place even with a front and top radiator installed.

AEGIS comes with not one, but two of these compact dual 3.5" drive cages, with tool-free HDD trays, featuring stainless steel pins secured to the plastic sleds with large vibration and noise dampening rubber pads. The bottom HDD cage can even be moved around and installed in different locations to accommodate long high-end PSUs or to make way for radiators in the front. And whether one prefers a clean look, or wants to remove all the HDD and SSD cages to make way for a custom water-cooling loop with radiators in push pull, there is a hidden 2.5" tray for an SSD or compact HDD behind the PSU.

And finally, to power a high-end build with an overclocked high-end CPU and two top of the line graphics cards, a user needs something big. Even with the bottom HDD cage in place, AEGIS supports the longest PSUs on the market, such as the 225mm Corsair AX1500i. And since the magnetic bottom dust filter is covering the entire length of the case, any contemporary PSU, no matter how large, gets to breathe nice and clean air.
